ThaiCraft Fair at Bumrungrad Hospital
A shared concern for the welfare of all Thai people and for the preservation of their diverse cultures led to a healthy social partnership between Bumrungrad and ThaiCraft that has flourished since 1998. The ThaiCraft Fair creates a tangible link between expatriate life in the big city and village communities from all parts of the kingdom, many of whom live in marginal and remote circumstances. Bumrungrad International Hospital, whose medical teams regularly conduct free clinics and surgical treatments to those in need in rural areas, willingly supports ThaiCraft's objective to provide economically disadvantaged artisans access to a sustainable market with fair trade principles.
Every December, Bumrungrad invites ThaiCraft to hold a special 2-day Christmas Fair in their main lobby. Doctors, medical and administrative staff, patients, visitors, expatriates and passers-by of all nationalities meet face-to-face with local artisans whose fine inherited craft products are highly appreciated and make meaningful Seasonal gifts.
Also, ThaiCraft partners with BIH in organising the annual “Living in Bangkok” exhibition every September to which organisations with services and activities of special interest to expatriates are invited. This popular one-day event held at the hospital is crowded with international residents, both new and long-term, as a one-stop place to find out what's available and going on in this vibrant, cosmopolitan city.
