The Art of Self-Reliance
ThaiCraft is a social enterprise with the vision of being the leading provider of top quality crafted products from Thailand by enabling skilled artisan groups to access development and improve their lives through sustainable markets, a fair income and with a respect for ethical principles.
ThaiCraft promotes self-reliance for village artisans in Thailand, providing them with training in quality control and product design as well as access to local and overseas markets.
At ThaiCraft, you can find top quality hand-made products, including Home Décor & Furnishings, Accessories, Gifts, Toys, Food and Spa soaps from over 60 groups of skilled artisans in Thailand.
Our products are:
Traceable and guaranteed: You buy directly from the people who created them. We can tell you how the products are made, what materials are used, and where they come from.
Unique and rare: Our products come from every part of Thailand, including remote villages. Some reflect traditional ethnic arts while others are the result of newly acquired skills.
Handmade and well finished: ThaiCraft carefully selects hand-crafted products of high standard with expert finishing and often with attractive packaging.
Genuine materials of superior quality: Only pure quality raw materials are used and, where possible, those that are natural and locally sourced. We are concerned to take care of the environment and many products contain recycled materials.
Our goals are:
to provide consumers with high-quality handmade products together with the producers’ stories.
to foster self-reliance of village artisan groups through the development of their micro-enterprises.
to practice the principles of Fair Trade with our producer groups and customers as well as within ThaiCraft’s organisation as a preferred alternative way of doing business.
to create positive social and environmental impact as well as a fair profit to develop our market further.
ThaiCraft and the local community
ThaiCraft maintains strong relations with other corporates, organisations and groups which, in different ways, serve the needs and diverse interests of local communities, especially those who take an interest in and support Thailand's cultural heritage. We are always happy to receive expressions of interest from those interested in exploring such a relationship, especially if there is a potential for a
win-win situation. Below are examples of ThaiCraft's well-established partners:
Thailand's franchisee of this internationally renowned relocation transport company provides ThaiCraft and our village groups with an invaluable pro bono service of safe storage of products and sales equipment between fair events, including delivery to and collection from every local venue throughout the year. Reliable and professional handling means delicate products are safe from damage and theft.
Our relationship with International School Bangkok (ISB), one of Thailand's oldest and largest international schools, greatly benefits our artisan groups and ThaiCraft itself as well as promoting the concept of Fair Trade among faculty, students and their families.
Although a public commercial company, BIH has a commitment to health care and community service that fully complements the profit motive. A shared concern for the welfare of all Thai people and for the preservation of their diverse cultures led to a healthy social partnership between Bumrungrad and ThaiCraft that has flourished since 1998.
