“ThaiCraft” is a registered "Fair Trade" organisation that helps village artisans throughout the country achieve self-reliance by creating income-generating opportunities. ThaiCraft assists producer groups in finding markets for their products both locally and by export. Through its work, ThaiCraft is helping to preserve indigenous craft traditions, passed down from generation to generation.
In addition to the mainstream work, ThaiCraft organises tours to visit craft
producers in their homes and communities for local customers,
supporters and volunteers. With more people seeking
opportunities to visit craft producers, the organizers
of ThaiCraft set up “Phu
Phiang” (pronounced “Pu-Piang”), as an
independent company, to manage and expand the tours.
“Crafts & Culture” Tours
To experience the work and culture of Thai artisans, our small groups visit homes of craft producers in villages who are partners with Thai Fair Trade organisations. We provide travelers with the opportunity to meet the people behind the products and to see at first hand the impact of Fair Trade practices.
Through travel and tourism, our tours help revive local knowledge and wisdom by supporting artisans from local community groups.
Phu Phiang Tour aims to practice "Fair Trade " by working towards a more equitable from of tourism in Thailand. We strive to ensure that our tourism dose not harmfully exploit communities or the environment. On the contrary, we want local people to benefits both materially and spiritually from being involved as partners.
